Blog Commenting – Getting More Blog Traffic At Zero Cost
If you’re trying to generate traffic for your new blog and you haven’t set up the automated systems we show you how to do in our business blog video tutorials, then be prepared to invest a considerable amount of time and hard work into getting people to find your site.
To help ease your task, however, I’m going to let you in on a little secret that successful blog marketers use to literally steal traffic away from other blogs.
Think about this for a moment: What if you were to search for blogs in your niche market that were already established and had a ton of traffic and then were able to divert some of that targetted traffic to YOUR OWN blog? Wouldn’t that be something neat?
Well you can, using a method known as Blog Commenting.
One of the great benefits of using a blog to grow your business online is that a blog offers interactive and dynamic features, like the ability for visitors to leave comments on your posts.
The higher the quality of the blog posts, the more people will gravitate to it and begin to form an online micro-community. For example, a while back, I began searching for a software script for adding a particular functionality to some of my sites. During my research, I came across a blog where the blog’s author posted a question relating to the exact kind of software script I was searching for.
As it turned out, several other business owners were looking for something like this and a couple of software developers who had also found this particular blog started leaving some great comments about what the challenges with developing this type of script were and so on.
Since no software script had yet been developed to do the things myself and others were looking for and a great and interesting discussion began to form around this topic on this particular blog, I then subscribed to the post to be kept updated and informed. I have been following this particular thread now for several months and have gotten to know more about the developer who is creating the software script I want and what the script will be able to do when it is ready.
The blog is not owned by the software developer, but his company will benefit from having tapped into the vibrant community that has formed around the topic. In other words, by commenting on the blog and participating in and contributing to the discussion, this software developer was able to channel traffic from the blog and divert it towards his own site.
Can you do the same for your business? Of course you can. Here’s how you do it:
First, begin by searching for the right blogs and blog posts to leave your comment on. Be aware, however, that you can end up wasting a lot of time posting comments on dead-end blog posts that hardly generate any traffic. In a moment I’ll tell you about a free resource you can download that will help you avoid wasting time.
For now, let’s just focus on the kind of blog posts that you do want to comment on. These are the blog posts that generate a good amount of traffic, and are related to your specific niche market. Some blogs display a ‘top posts’ list that lets you know fairly quickly what blog posts are the most popular and most commented on. You can use these lists if available to see if the blog you’re researching meets the requirements of traffic and relevancy that you are looking for.
Once you find a blog that looks suitable for commenting on, a simple and highly effective strategy is to then post a comment that:
- Is relevant to the blog post or discussion.
- Is helpful to other visitors, and
- Contains a link pointing back to your own website or blog.
Make sure that when posting comments, you don’t come across as being spammy. Spamming blogs will probably get your comments deleted. Just be respectful, helpful and relevant when commenting on other people’s blogs.
Useful tips:
If you find a blog that meets all the criteria you are looking for and poses a question that you could expertly answer and begin to establish yourself as an authority in, then a great approach you can use is to, rather than leave a really long comment on someone else’s blog, start a post on your own blog that addresses this question or issue, then link to your post in a comment and suggest people consider the post you’re referring them to as a viable answer or solution to the questions being raised, or issues being discussed in the blog you’re commenting on.
This approach will help to ensure that you’re not inconveniencing visitors or imposing on the blog owners, and will get your link placed right in the center of attention, which is the goal you’re trying to achieve with your blog commenting activities.
Now, as mentioned earlier, to avoid wasting a great deal of time searching around the internet for relevant blogs you can comment on, go here to download this great FREE blog commenting tool:
