Business Blog Tips – How To Turn Paid Traffic Into Free Traffic For Your Business Blog Or Website

Published by Self Publish Web at 5:41 pm under Grow Your Blog

I recently set up a Google AdWords pay-per-click campaign to bring more visitors to my “How To Start A Blog” video tutorials product.

Setting up an effective Google AdWords campaign is a fairly comprehensive subject. I do run very successful and highly profitable Adwords campaigns for a few select clients – if you are interested in knowing more about my PPC services or discussing setting up a PPC campaign for your business, feel free to contact me here. If you just want to learn more about Pay-Per-Click advertising, then I recommend you get Perry Marshall’s The Definitive Guide To Google AdWords.

What I do want to talk about in this post, is how to use data from your online advertising campaigns to grow your business blog organically. In other words, how to go from paying for traffic to getting visitors coming to your blog for FREE.

The concept is actually very simple:

  1. Set up advertising banners or text ads to drive visitors to your website, e-commerce store, product sales page, etc …
  2. Make sure you can track which keywords visitors are searching for – not only the keywords and keyword phrases people are using to find your ads, but more importantly, the keywords and keyword phrases that get them to click on your ads in order to get to your site, and especially the search terms that end up converting visitors into buyers.
  3. Write content on your business blog based on the specific keywords and keyword phrases above that convert searches into sales of your products and services.

A pay-per-click or search advertising campaign (e.g. Google AdWords) is ideal for this. If you set up all aspects of your campaign correctly (keywords, ads, landing pages and tracking), you will get invaluable data showing you which keywords actually turn into sales when your visitors land on your sales page.

Once you know this information, you can increase the number of visitors to your site using organic (i.e. FREE) search, by simply creating content optimized for those keywords.

And the best way to do this, is to create a blog post on that topic, then direct your visitors to your sales page at the end of your blog post.

For example, here are the top search results of my Google Adwords campaign for this month, for the campaign I specifically set up for my business blog tutorials product:

  • how to start a blog
  • how to set up a blog
  • start business website
  • how to build a blog
  • business start up
  • business with blogs
  • how to business blog
  • how to start a business website
  • make a business website
  • small business web site
  • why business blog

The money I have invested into setting up and optimizing my Google Adwords campaign, has not only resulted in creating new sales of my product, but I also got great “market research”data from my investment, since I know now exactly which keywords in my campaign attract the most clicks from visitors when I display ads that talk specifically about my product.

Now that I know all of this, the next step is to write contents on each of the above topics. In fact, I already have posted articles using the above keyword phrases in my articles. For example, people searching for “how to start a blog” can find great information in an article I recently posted entitled “How To Start A Business Blog For Less Than $100“.

I have also written or plan to write articles for this blog that explain how to set up a blog, how to build a blog and how to business blog, blog posts that include ways to start business website traffic generation, business start up tips and strategies for growing your business with blogs, how to start a business website without paying for costly web development, ways to make a business website more profitable, highly effective small business web site promotion methods and why business blog marketing works extremely well for small business owners.

Just adding the keywords to your blog posts, however, is not the most effective way to profit from this information. You also need to make sure that you are writing content on your blog that addresses the specific needs of users searching for the terms identified in your online advertising campaign. Once you have done this, pick one or two instances where you have used the keyword phrase in your blog post and turn it into an “anchor text” by linking it to the URL of your product sales page.

If you can do the above successfully, then you have, in effect, begun the process of not only driving free traffic to your blog using targeted SEO (search engine optimized) content, but also writing effective copy that presells your products and services to visitors.

You can also use this method with keyword data obtained from your server logs (i.e. using a web stats package), but if you are just starting out and have very little traffic coming in, then using the paid search method I have just described here can help you fast-track the process and write more targeted content for your blog that will help you grow your business faster.

Last but not least, don’t forget to add a call to action at the end of your blog post that is effective at getting your blog readers to visit the product or service you are promoting.

I wish you great success business blogging.
