Starting A Business Blog – Results After 90 Days
Following on from the videos I made where I track the progress of starting a business blog on a brand new domain name using the system shown in our ’step-by-step’ how to start a blog video tutorial, in this post we will look at the results of starting this blog after 90 days.
Like the previous videos, the video below looks at actual results – specific to this video, however, we look to see whether we have achieved the following four main objectives:
- Get Indexed In Search Engines Fast
- Attract Regular Visitors To Our Blog
- Generate New Leads
- Make New Sales

After watching the above video, keep in mind that not only was this blog built on a brand new domain name, but the subject matter of this blog (business blogging, starting a business blog, how to start a blog, etc …) is in a highly competitive niche – there are millions of other pages competing for the “blogging” niche – and, not only does this domain name not contain the keyword “blog” in it (selfpublishweb.com), but the URL of this entire site is also in a folder called “demo”, instead of “blog” (i.e. “http://www.selfpublishweb.com/demo” not “http://www.selfpublishweb.com/blog“).
This was not done deliberately, mind you. I started out this blog with the idea of showing small business owners how to create a “self-managed web site”, but soon realized that it was best to just call these sites what they really are … blogs!
As any good SEO expert will tell you, I would probably get even better results if I had used the keyword “business blog” in the domain name, and named the folder where I have installed this very blog that you are reading right now “blog” instead of “demo”. Nonetheless, if you watch the video, you will see that despite this handicap, the blog still manages to perform rather well and achieves each of the above objectives.
